HART Flex flexes for you!

Originally introduced in 2010, HART has operated its HART Flex van service. This service is mainly designed to serve areas with lower ridership where it may not be worth operating a traditional transit bus through. Flex routes can also, via a phone reservation, deviate into areas where traditional buses may not be able to reach.

HART currently operates four different Flex services throughout Hillsborough County – Port Tampa, Brandon, the east Fletcher Ave corridor, & South County (Ruskin). Previous Flex zones included Carrollwood, Town-N-Country, Northdale, & South Tampa (Palma Ceia & mid WestShore).

Schedules

All four Flex zones operate on an hourly basis. Service begins at around 6:00am & operates until around 10:00pm (South County & East Fletcher has more constrained hours & only operate on weekdays). Please see the route flyers for the most current information.

At this time, the only HART Flex route that is accepting reservations for route deviations is the South County route. All other routes are only conducting walk-up service. To utilize walk-up service, simply locate the HART bus stop with the FLEX decal.

Fares

  • One-way cash fare: $1.00.
  • Flex All-Day Pass (sold on board the van): $2.00.
  • All other payment methods listed on the Fare Payment Options page can be used on HART Flex routes.

Fleet

HART dedicates a portion of their paratransit fleet for Flex service. These Champion Crusader cutaway vans (utilizing the Chevrolet Express chassis) are equipped with fareboxes & LED head signs in the front & passenger side of the vehicle. Flex vehicles are also equipped with bike racks.
